Here in Ontario, Canada we are in a bit of a late heat wave. It’s just plain gorgeous outside! It’s September and we’re here cleaning out our gardens and working up a sweat. Believe me when I say we aren’t complaining, after a very cool few weeks we embrace the warmth!
This heat had me looking around for a refreshing drink recipe and I found what I was looking for in one of my recipe books, Tacos, Tortas & Tamales by Roberto Santibanez. I took his Mexican Limeade recipe and changed it up a bit by adding in more ice and blending it with the recipe.
Limeade – A refreshing drink recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 limes, rinsed well, quartered and seeds flicked out
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 cups ice cubes
- 3 cups of water
- Ice cubes for glasses
- 1 lime for garnish
Preparation:
Place the lime quarters (with skins) and sugar in a blender. Add in 3 cups of water and blend until very smooth.
Fill your glasses with ice and pour the mixture into each glass. Garnish with lime wedges and add extra sugar to taste.
