Travelling is a dream but let’s be real for a moment, it can be expensive! We have found that cruising gives us the most bang for our buck but as someone who wants to be connected digitally to keep a eye on the home/business front, the cost of internet while taking a cruise can be a hidden cost many don’t think of. We have been cruising with Carnival Cruise line and have watched things change…thank goodness.
In days gone by internet access while cruising wasn’t cheap! On our first cruise the pricing of the internet packages almost made me weep. I ended up having to buy the largest package available and just sucked up the increase in my budget plan.
We have enjoyed 3 cruises with Carnival Cruise Line in the past 2 years and we’ve just booked our 4th with Carnival Cruise Line on the Ecstasy in February of this year. Cruising is just budget-friendly for us. Living in Canada, we can drive to many of the ports in order to save the dreaded Canadian flight taxes and we get to see our choices of countries on the cruises we choose.
Carnival Cruise Line Internet Plans
Let’s get down to brass tacks…the cost of internet on Carnival Cruise Line ships has improved!! This is a VERY good thing and the packages really make it affordable. On our last cruise we were able to Skype call the family at home, I could keep up on my business activities and even share real-time on social media.
The packages available are:
- Social ($5 USD per day) – Access the most popular websites and applications. Includes: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Linkedin, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and Snapchat. Does not include access to other websites or apps.
- Value ($16 USD per day) – Surf all your favorite sites, including e-mail, news, sports, weather, banking and finance. Note: Does not support Skype calling or music streaming (such as Spotify).
- Premium ($25 USD per day) – From e-mail to Skype, our Premium plan promises the fastest possible connection, at speeds up to 3 times faster than our Value Plan. Supports Skype video calling, where coverage allows.
On our last cruise with our friends we had the opportunity to use the new, upgraded internet and plans. The result – WHOA the internet connection was strong and FAST and I was actually able to get some work done quickly while we were out at sea.
This is a massive improvement, being able to function and interact with home for small snippets of time allowed me the freedom to truly enjoy our trip. It also allowed me to share some AMAZING photos real time right when they were happening which I know my followers loved.
If you’d like to keep up with us on our next cruise, make sure to follow along on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!

I am sitting on the Carnival Dream as I write. We are docked in Key West and I am looking at the back end of the Carnival Ecstasy. The Internet plans on this cruise are even better priced. The Value package is $60 for the whole cruise and the Premium package is just $99. It may be because we are staying close to the mainland; only going to Key West and the Bahamas. Enjoy your cruise in February. I’m off to the Lido deck for some sun and warmth.
wow that’s AWESOME!
Thanks for the advice. Hubby and I are cruise virgins and ready to take the plunge soon. I am reading alot to make sure we have the best experience possible.
I love that they have different packages for what you are looking for. I would probably get the Social package.
